Taking Care of Yourself is an Act of Charity

Do you think you’re doing a favor for others when you disregard your own well-being and exchange it for theirs?

Well, think again.

When you don’t take care of yourself and end up taking care of others you sap energy that should be going towards your needs and give it to people who then become like drug addicts, needing their daily dose from their dealer and remember, in this case the dealer is you! The day you’re not there they will collapse because you, who were their crutch, have gone absent. This also causes resentment on your part because as you give them your energy, they become full, but they don’t necessarily have the need to reciprocate. Now that you’re empty and they’re content you start thinking to yourself, why am I not happy? Well duh, you gave away your most valuable resource.

Now you’ve become like them, an energy vampire.

Do you think people like being around you when you’re in this state? I’ll tell you right now it is hell to be around someone that doesn’t take care of themselves because they’re constantly sapping energy from everything around them. Only one thing beats this torment and it’s being the soul sucking vampire itself. In a YouTube comment (I know, not the place you’d expect to find wisdom.) I saw someone write that they allowed their vampiric family member to be because she knew it was more miserable to be her than to be around her…and I agree.

Misery loves company.

These people only attract more flies so make sure that you stay away from them. If you’re one of the flies, then make sure you get your life back on track and pull your energy back onto yourself. But I warn you it’s very probable that every person you’ve given energy to will come back and demand that you give it back.

Like King Leonidas in 300 you must hold the line. Once people receive something, they believe it’s their own, even when it’s an act of kindness or charity, they get mad and infantile when they don’t receive it. Trust me, I’ve seen cases of investors gripe like little kids when they don’t get their dividends even though every seasoned stockholder knows that when the company does great there is a reward and when it’s crunch time it’s withheld for sustenance. Remember, you are the true master, you have the power to recall your energy whenever you want. Let them simmer in their inadequacy. It’s not your responsibility.Like a wise little angel said in one of my books, “Take care of yourself before taking care of others. Love yourself before loving others.”
